Today is the Federal Income Tax Deadline

Here are 5 things you should know today in Bedford

1. Get those taxes in!  Midnight is the deadline to file your 2012 Federal Income Taxes. Forms are available at the Bedford Public Library or online. The Bedford Post Office closes at 5 p.m. today, but the Manchester Post Office on Goffs Falls Road is open until 7 p.m.

2. The weatherman says .... partly- to mostly-cloudy skies with a high of 60 degrees and a 0-percent chance of rain.

3. Lace 'em up! On Saturday, May 18, the 39th running of the Bedford Rotary Races will take place at Bedford High School. Register online for the 5K or 12K run through www.rotarybedfordnh.com, or print the application and mail it in. Tees for the first 400 registrants, and walkers are welcome in the 5K.

4. A 'Master'ful performance. On Sunday, Adam Scott went from a good Australian golfer to a Masters champion, winning in a dramatic playoff against Argentinian Angel Cabrera. Scott became the first player from Down Under to capture the coveted green jacket, awarded to the tournament's champion.

5. On this day ...  in 1947, Jackie Robinson, age 28, becomes the first African-American player in Major League Baseball when he steps onto Ebbets Field in Brooklyn to compete for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson broke the color barrier in a sport that had been segregated for more than 50 years. Exactly 50 years later, on April 15, 1997, Robinson's groundbreaking career was honored and his uniform number, 42, was retired from Major League Baseball by Commissioner Bud Selig in a ceremony attended by over 50,000 fans at New York City's Shea Stadium. Robinson's was the first-ever number retired by all teams in the league.
