- The City of Manchester Fire Department is currently working with Dynamix Consulting Corp to create a Master Plan. The plan will assess the department and look at its current service to the community, identify future growth and service demand, and develop strategies for meeting projected needs in the community. During this time, the fire department is seeking public input via an online survey, found here. The survey can be taken any time now through Friday, Jul. 14 at 5:00 p.m. (City of Manchester, NH Fire Department via Facebook)
- New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella disclosed the names of the five Manchester police officers who were involved in a fatal shooting on Friday, May 26. The incident is still under investigation, but it is believed that the report on whether the officer's use of deadly force was justified will be released upon the investigation's completion. The officers who discharged their firearms were Jeffrey Belleza, Patrick Ruddell, Robert Bifsha, and Stephen Choate; Officer Michael Auger discharged a less-than-lethal weapon once during the incident. - A Manchester woman, Aurora Gutierrez Ortiz, was charged with reckless operation and two counts of lack of child restraints after a wrong-way crash that injured two children on Tuesday. Investigators determined that the car driven by Gutierrez Ortiz was driving on the wrong side of the road when it collided with a Ford Focus, and both children in the backseat were not wearing seatbelts at the time. Gutierrez Ortiz is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 1 in Merrimack District Court. (NBC Boston)
