- Timothy Johnson, a former resident of a Manchester homeless shelter, will spend five years in a psychiatric facility after he shot and killed a fellow resident. A Hillsborough County Superior Court judge found him not guilty because of insanity for the shooting and ordered him to be committed to the state Secure Psychiatric Unit. Johnson has a lengthy criminal record and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia with paranoid delusions. (Subscription: Union Leader)
- While playing basketball in downtown Manchester, a 36-year-old man was stabbed after someone allegedly tried to steal his cell phone. Police arrived on the scene to discover the man lying on his back. They treated him on the scene and sent him to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. (Patch)
- After the U.S. Supreme Court shut down President Biden's student loan relief plan, many Manchester students claim the decision will affect them financially. With more than 190,000 student loan borrowers in New Hampshire, many are feeling financial stress and will face roadblocks as loan payments resume. This September, student loans will begin accruing for the first time in three years. (WMUR)
