1. Child injured in New Year's Day Union Street fire succumbs to injuries (inklink.news) — A 5-year-old girl critically injured in the New Year’s Day Union Street apartment fire in Manchester has died, becoming the second fatality from the blaze that displaced about 50 residents. City agencies and the Red Cross are coordinating housing, financial help, and daily meals for affected families, including those from a separate Amherst Street fire, and are urging anyone still unregistered to reach out for assistance.
   

2. Flu season came early this year to NH, and remains intense (nhpr.org) — Flu cases are surging at Manchester’s Elliot Health Systems, where staff report a sharp, earlier-than-usual spike in illnesses. Hospitals from Nashua to the North Country are also strained, urging residents to mask when appropriate, stay home when sick, and consider flu and other vaccines to reduce severe symptoms.
   

3. South suffers second-straight setback » Nashua Ink Link (inklink.news) — Trinity High School’s boys basketball team protected their Manchester home court Friday night, topping Nashua South 78–66 behind a balanced scoring attack and strong free-throw shooting. South struggled with turnovers and missed free throws, despite 20 points from junior guard Rigo Challenger, as both Division I contenders continue to jostle for position early in the New Hampshire season.

Stefany Shaheen Goes 0-For-3 Against Maura Sullivan In Fundraising Race (patch.com) — A New Hampshire 1st Congressional District fundraising showdown has Maura Sullivan consistently outraising Stefany Shaheen, despite Shaheen’s famous name and donor network. The race also includes GOP hopefuls like state Rep. Brian Cole of Manchester, with strategists saying a competitive Democratic primary could boost Republicans in this closely watched potential flip seat.
