Health officials urge residents—especially seniors and young children’s families—to watch for serious warning signs, call 911 when symptoms escalate, and reduce risk through vaccination, good hygiene, and staying home when sick. 
2. Board hears plans to convert Manchester law office into 'community art hub' (unionleader.com) — A former law office at 15 High St. could soon become a new community art hub in downtown Manchester, with gallery space, studios, and a short-term artist-in-residence apartment. The Planning Board is expected to vote Jan. 22 on parking and site plan approvals, with supporters saying the project would boost the city’s cultural life and downtown vibrancy.
3. Manchester students learn about prosthetics industry during leadership program (unionleader.com) — Manchester high school students recently visited ForMotion Clinic in the Millyard to see cutting-edge prosthetics technology up close and learn about related careers. As part of the new Youth Leadership Greater Manchester program, they heard how 3D scanning and printing, state law on prosthetic coverage, and compassionate care combine to change patients’ lives. Organizers hope the experience sparks long-term interest in this specialized medical field.
4. Recipients chosen for 2026 Historic Preservation Awards (inklink.news) — Manchester’s Historic Preservation Awards will return May 21, 2026 at Manchester Community College, honoring projects like Queen City Center on Canal Street, Brookside’s Manning House, Doctors Park at Elliot Hospital, Central High’s Classical Building, and preservationist Phyllis Gagnon. Residents can also vote in a February “People’s Choice Award,” with proceeds supporting the Manchester Historic Association’s Millyard Museum programs and collections.
5. Lacy Long, 77, of Manchester, New Hampshire (wkdzradio.com) — Longtime Manchester resident Lacy Eugene Long, a beloved theater enthusiast and set painter, has died at 77. After moving to Manchester in 1975, he became deeply involved with local theater groups, including The New Thalian Players of Manchester and The Community Players of Concord. Friends are invited to honor him at a future Evening of Remembrance, with donations suggested to The Community Players of Concord.
