Boy, 16, Arrested In Manchester In Connection With MA Murder

The suspect was arrested Friday afternoon at a home in Manchester and is facing murder charges.

MANCHESTER, NH — A 16-year-old boy was extradited from New Hampshire to Massachusetts Wednesday in connection with the Oct. 19 murder of a 19-year-old boy, police said Wednesday.

The investigation began after officers responded to a home in the 100 block of Nursery Street in Springfield, Massachusetts, where they found the victim, Matthew Chaney dead of a gunshot wound just after 12:30 a.m.

Authorities applied for a warrant and members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit, Massachusetts State Police VFAS, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Manchester police worked together to find the suspect, whose name is being withheld due to his age.

The suspect was arrested Friday afternoon at a home in Manchester and is facing murder charges in connection with Chaney's death.

Detectives traveled to Manchester Wednesday to transport the suspect to the Paul J. Fenton Public Safety Complex where he was booked in the afternoon, police said.
