Former Teen Vandal Charged with DWI After Crashing Car
Devan French is scheduled to appear in court on April 1.
A Merrimack man who was charged in connection with a vandalism spree three years ago was arrested on drunken driving charges Saturday after crashing into a telephone pole and then leaving the scene of the accident.
Devan French, 20, was charged with driving while intoxicated underage, operating after revocation, conduct after an accident and alcohol possession by a minor.
Around 7 a.m. Saturday, members of the Merrimack Police Department responded to a single car motor vehicle accident involving a telephone pole in the area of Baboosic Lake Road and Marty Drive. Upon arrival, it was determined that the operator of the vehicle had left the area.
Upon checking the area for the operator, a male subject, French, was observed walking a distance away from the accident scene. While questioning him about the accident, officers noted signs of alcohol impairment. Upon further investigation, it was determined that French was under the age of 21 and was intoxicated.
French was placed under arrest and was transported to the police station for processing. He was released on $3,500 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear before the Merrimack 9th Circuit Court on April 1 to answer to the charges.
Three years ago, when he was just 17, French was arrested following a vandalism spree on Baboosic Lake Road.
