Police: Drunk Driver Gets Car Stuck in Snowbank

John Burns will appear in court on April 1 to answer to a charge of operating under the influence of liquor.

A Merrimack man was arrested for drunken driving on Wednesday night after police say he got his car stuck in a snowbank.

John Burns, 67 of 5 Bernards Road #7 was charged with operating under the influence of liquor.

At 8:57 p.m. on Wednesday, Merrimack Police responded to Daniel Webster Highway near Society Hill for a motor vehicle stuck in a snowbank. Upon arrival, police located the vehicle on the snowbank blocking the southbound turn lane.

As the officer spoke to the driver, identified as Burns, he could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage. After a brief investigation, Burns was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Merrimack Police Department where he was processed and later released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail.

He was ordered to appear in Merrimack District Court on April 1 to answer the charge.
