2 Merrimack Firefighters Injured Battling Mobile Home Blaze
The fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. at the Rancourt Estates Mobile Home Park.
Two firefighters were injured battling a blaze Friday in a Merrimack mobile home park.
The fire was first reported at 57 D.W. Highway at 2:34 p.m., but fire officials soon learned it was actually at 2 Garnet Lane in the Rancourt Estates Mobile Home Park.
Merrimack Assistant Fire Chief Brian Borneman said arriving units encountered heavy fire and smoke showing from the structure. He said the blaze was declared under control within about an hour, with crews remaining on scene for overhaul.
He said the mobile home was a "total loss," and the residents will not be able to stay there. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the homeowners. Two Merrimack firefighters suffered minor injuries while fighting the fire.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, with the area of origin being the propane fired hot water heater.
Mutual aid was called in from Nashua, and Manchester firefighters provided station coverage.
