Local Hero: Meet Nashua's Alicia Angove

NASHUA, NH — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Jill Gadwah who nominated Alicia Angove of Nashua. Angrove is a social worker and hairstylist, and she works at the local mission.

How do you know the local hero?

She is my daughter

What does the local hero do?

She is a social worker all week, a hairstylist on Saturday, and does local mission work feeding the less fortunate in the surrounding communities as well as prayer and healing. She also helps her family get to doctor's appointments and to the store and she has her 5-year-old to take care of.

My daughter never stops. She puts herself into everything that she does. I have seen her so tired at the end of the day, but she doesn't complain. I am so proud of all of her accomplishments in life. She has worked hard. I am so very proud of her. She has made such a difference in so many lives.

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

I do believe I answered this question above.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?

She is a go-getter and a helper, and she goes above and beyond in what she does as a social worker, hairstylist, daughter, mother, and grandmother. She has a heart of gold, a beautiful shining spirit, she pours out love everywhere, and she has turned lives around for the better.
