Al Bille Sworn In As New Mayor Of Barnegat

Former Township Committeeman Al Bille was sworn in as the mayor of Barnegat at the township's reorganization meeting on New Year's Day.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Former Township Committeeman Al Bille was sworn in as the mayor of Barnegat at the township’s reorganization meeting on New Year’s Day.

Bille served as the Barnegat mayor in 2017 and was first elected to the township committee in 2010. Al Cirulli, a former mayor, was also sworn in as the new deputy mayor and Joe Marte was sworn in as a first time committeeman.

During his mayoral acceptance speech, Bille called Barnegat the "most up and coming town in Ocean County."

Bille said the township has attracted development from national builders, new stores and restaurants while maintaining stable taxes. He added that Barnegat is currently constructing a new town hall and police station.

"We anticipate maintaining forty percent of open space in our town," said Bille. "We intend to maintain our bay beach, and continue to form a downtown business association to help existing businesses and welcome new ones.”

Bille recognized the hard work of many people who work in the township, including the police department, fire department, first aid squad, food pantry volunteers, town hall and public works staff and the many volunteers serving on township committees.
