The Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter currently has more dogs than available kennels. Adoptions are needed to save lives.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — If you're looking to increase your family by four furry feet, now's the time to do so. The Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter, located in Manahawkin, is currently overcapacity - and without adoptions, some animals may not make it out of the shelter alive.

"The Southern Ocean County animal shelter in Manahawkin is overcapacity, with more dogs than kennels," the Friends of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter, a non-profit group that cares for homeless animals, shared Friday on their Facebook page. "Without adoptions, they will have to make some tough decisions."
