Man Tried Breaking Into Parked Cars At Southern Regional, Police Say

Bradley Stanley was caught with stolen property after he was seen trying to break into cars at Southern Regional High School, police said.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A Manahawkin man was caught with stolen property after he was seen trying to break into parked cars at Southern Regional High School, Stafford police said.

On Dec. 13 at about 12 p.m., police were alerted to a suspicious man trying to break into cars at the high school, according to a news release.

Police began to canvass the area after learning that the man had been seen walking down Route 9. A man matching the suspect's description was seen near the intersection of Route 9 and Hilliard Boulevard.

When officers approached the man, he ran into the woods, prompting a brief foot pursuit, police said.

The man, identified as 39-year-old Bradley Stanley, was caught, police said. He was found to be in possession of multiple burglar tools, assorted stolen property and a stun gun, police said.

Stanley was charged with burglary, fraudulent use of a credit card, credit card theft, prohibited weapons and devices, unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to have weapons, resisting arrest, five counts of disorderly persons possessing burglar's tools and seven counts of disorderly persons theft by unlawful taking.

He sits in Ocean County Jail awaiting an appearance in Superior Court.
