NEW JERSEY — The coldest air since last winter is expected to move through New Jersey over the next two days, bringing frigid temperatures into the single digits, according to the National Weather Service.
Starting Monday night, Arctic air sweeping in from central Canada will reach lows in the teens and single digits in some areas. During the day on Tuesday, temperatures will hover around 20 degrees Fahrenheit or slightly lower in the teens.
Temperatures may feel even colder due to wind chills traveling up to 25 mph on Monday, with temperatures falling to single digits and below zero in some areas.

The arctic cold front could also pose dangerous conditions Monday night through Tuesday night. The National Weather Service said people should limit prolonged time spent outdoors and ensure that pets are kept inside. The cold temperatures could potentially freeze improperly insulated pipes.

With no precipitation in the forecast, icy conditions are not expected in New Jersey as temperatures plummet this week. Forecasters expect the deep freeze to end Wednesday as temperatures climb into the mid- to upper 30s.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 15. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 39. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 43.
Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25.
