Blankets 'Urgently Needed' At Manahawkin Animal Shelter

No other donations are needed at this time, just blankets, county officials said.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Ocean County animal shelters are in need of blankets for the pets brought in from the recent Brick hoarding situation, Ocean County Health Department officials said Monday.

No other donations are needed at this time, officials said, just blankets.

The blankets are needed for the Southern Ocean County Animal Facility in Manahawkin and the county's emergency animal facility in Barnegat.

Blankets can be brought to the Manahawkin location (360 Haywood Road). The shelter is open seven days a week and donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 609-978-0127.

Brick Township Police and OCHD are working to reunite animals who were fostered or who were turned over to Aimee Lonczak or Michelle Nycz, the two women charged in the hoarding situation. People can email photos of the dog or cat and a short description of the animal they are searching for to Brick police at petrescue@brickpd.com.
