Coast Guard Rescues Two After Boat Runs Aground Off Barnegat Light
Incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday

BARNEGAT LIGHT, NJ - Two people were rescued Saturday afternoon when their boat ran aground near the Oyster Creek Channel off Barnegat Light on Saturday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard flew two people - one injured - to emergency medical services at Station Barnegat Light after the 3:30 p.m. incident, according to a Coast Guard press release.
A 29-foot small response boat with a rescue crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat light was already on its way to the accident scene when the distress call came over marine-band radio, the release states.

“The daily training operations that we conduct allowed us to quickly get to this person and get them to the medical care they needed,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher Rentenberg, officer of the day at Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light. “It’s a good feeling knowing we can be there to help the people who need us.”
