Deer Spotted Strolling On Long Beach Island
Whether you find them to be a pest or a pleasant surprise, police ask that you use caution while driving on the island.
LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ — Oh deer. Everyone loves a day spent on the island, and apparently, that includes animals. Several people have reported on social media that they've seen some deer walking around LBI.
On Tuesday, Yaatree Bazaar shared that there were deer walking down the road in Loveladies.
Then on Wednesday, Harvey Cedars police shared a photo of two deer enjoying an all-you-can-eat buffet - that is, eating someone's garden.

How did they get here? Maybe they walked over on the bridge, but as it turns out, deer are actually strong swimmers. It's possible that they decided a dip was just what they needed and swam across the bay.

Long Beach Township police said that Stafford Township Animal Control is aware of the rogue deer and that they have been in touch with NJ Fish and Wildlife.
And no matter if you think deer are an annoying pest and or sweet sign of nature returning, be sure to use caution while you're driving.
