FBI, U.S. Marshal's Office Warn Of Scam Alert: Don't Fall For This
Phone scammers are posting as law enforcement officials and tell people they owe fines for missed jury duty

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ - Have you gotten a call from someone claiming to be a law enforcement official who says you will be fined because you failed to report for jury duty?
Hang up. It's a scam
The FBI's Philadelphia Division and the U.S. Marshal's Service recently informed Stafford police about a phone scam where impersonators of law enforcement call victims and tell them they face fines, possible arrest or a court appearance, Stafford Lt. James R. Vaughn said.

The victim is then told to purchase a prepaid debit card, and provide the caller with the card information prior to reporting to court. Don't do it.
So far, no one in Stafford has reported being a victim.

"All residents are reminded to be cautious about giving out any personal or sensitive information over the phone," Vaughn said.
