The Homeplace Show: The Sounds of the Jersey Pines fills the air at Albert Music Hall

A celebration of musical traditions that led to the creation of the Hall and the Pinelands Cultural Society with live music & a sing along.

On November 15, the annual Homeplace Show will take place at Albert Music Hall, featuring traditional “Sounds of the Jersey Pines.” The name of the show originates from weekly jam sessions once held at the Albert brothers’ cabin—affectionately known as the Homeplace by those who played there. These gatherings drew crowds from near and far, including both musicians and music enthusiasts who came to listen or sing along. Over time, they inspired the founding of Albert Music Hall and the Pinelands Cultural Society. More about this history can be found in the organization’s story.

Recently, an old Albert Music Hall Sing-Along Book was donated to the archive by the daughter of founder Janice Sherwood, inspiring organizers to open this year’s Homeplace Show with a traditional sing-along led by Granny and the Boys. Song sheets will be distributed at the door to encourage everyone to join in when the show begins at 6:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:00 p.m.
Following the sing-along, five bands will perform:

The Pickin’ Shed and porch will also be open for informal jam sessions starting at 5:00 p.m. It’s a welcoming space to learn, play, and connect with other musicians. Musicians of all skill levels are welcome—organizers invite guests to bring an instrument and join the jam!
