SURF CITY, NJ — Buddy the Elf said it best when he said "the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear." You can enjoy some of that cheer when the Waterview Singers perform their Holiday Concert at the Ocean County Long Beach Island Branch on Dec. 14, the Library announced in a release.

Christmas songs and carols are the name of the game for the Barnegat-based group this season, with their family-friendly performance featuring the entire ensemble, plus solos, duets, small combos and of course, audience sing-a-longs.

The Waterview Singers are a musical ensemble, a new feature of Barnegat's Waterview Music. Members from around Ocean County perform standards, Broadway melodies, pop tunes of the ‘50s, summer beach favorites and more. New members are welcome. Singers and musicians, high school age and older, can learn more at www.waterviewsingers.com.

According to the Library, Waterview Music dedicates a portion of the proceeds from each band or orchestra instrument rental to fund its music scholarship program at Barnegat High School.

Director Jeffery Thyer's list of credits include an ongoing association with Philadelphia’s Singing City Choir, the Library said. As Tour Manager of ACFEA Tour Consultants in Philadelphia, he plans international appearances for choirs, orchestras and bands. He holds a Master’s degree in choral conducting from Ball State University in Indiana.
