Man Injured in Manahawkin Crash Ticketed For Careless Driving: Police

Seventeen-year-old driver struck a utility pole off Route 72

A 17-year-old driver was injured when the 2007 Chevy Trailblazer he was driving left the roadway at milemaker 22.6 on Route 72 recently, Stafford police said.

Polic responded to the crash at 1:11 a.m. on June 30 and found that the driver, who was traveling west, had left the lane of travel and struck a utility police. The youth suffered lacerations to his head and face and was taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center by the Stafford Township EMS.

Route 72 westbound was closed temporarily until the scene was cleared. The driver was charged with careless driving, failure to maintain lane, hours of operation and decal requirements for a probationary driver's license, police said.
