Missing Man In Egg Harbor Township Found Dead In Woods: Police

The body of 91-year-old Egg Harbor Township man with dementia discovered in wooded area on Monday, police say

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ - Police and William Froener's friend had hoped for a better outcome when the 91-year-old man went missing on Sunday morning.

Froener suffered from demential and Alzheimer's disease. He had a history of wandering away from home. But on Monday morning, police blood hounds from the Atlantic County Sheriff's Department found his body in the woods near his Atlantic Avenue home, according to a release from the Egg Harbor Police Department.

The elderly man's death has not been determined, but foul play is not suspected, the release states.

The New Jersey State Police Missing Person’s Unit, NJ State Police Division of Gaming Enforcement, and “A Child Is Missing Recovery Center,” also assisted with the investigation.

Both the State Police and Egg Harbor Township police had asked for the public's help to locate Froehner, who was last seen around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.

He is a white male, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has blue eyes and a long white beard. He was last seen wearing white sneakers, khaki pants and a green hoodie with a red plaid flannel shirt, according to the State Police Facebook page.

Froehner left on foot and does not drive. Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit at 609-882-2000 ext. 2554 or Egg Harbor Township Police Department at 609-927-5200.
