Vehicle Crashes Into Gun Shop In Manahawkin: Police (UPDATE)

The crash caused a gas leak, according to authorities. A road was also closed.

MANAHAWKIN – A driver crashed a car into a guns and ammunition store on Friday, closing a road and causing evacuations, authorities said.

The crash happened at 1:50 a.m. when a vehicle crashed into P&K Firearms and Ammo on East Bay Avenue near Park Avenue, police said.

A 2016 Ford Edge driven by Ramon Davis Jr., 20, of Barnegat was traveling west on Bay Avenue when it left the roadway and struck several trees, police said.

It then crashed into the P&K Firearms and Ammo building, police said. Davis sustained minor injuries and was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center for treatment.

The collision compromised a gas line, causing the evacuations of nearby residents. No other people were injured.

East Bay Avenue was closed, and later reopened, between Route 9 and Union during the investigation. NJ Natural gas was able to secure the gas leak and the company was still working to patch the roadway back up on Friday morning.

The area was deemed safe and residents have been returning to their homes.
