Watching New Jersey Pinelands Commission Meetings Just Got A Little Easier

The Commission's monthly meetings are now streamed online, recordings of the meetings are also available.

PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP - Don't feel like making the long trip through the Pine Barrens to attend a meeting of the New Jersey Pinelands Commission?

Well, you don't have to. The monthly meetings are now livestreamed online from the Commission's headquarters in New Lisbon in Burlington County. Recordings of the meetings are also available on the website, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

The Commission meetings are usually held on Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m., when most people are unable to attend.

“We’re hopeful that by livestreaming our meetings, it will engender a greater interest in the work of the Pinelands Commission and our efforts to safeguard this region,” spokesman Paul Leakan said.

Carleton Montgomery, Executive Director of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance, called the move was "good," but not the same as being able to attend a meeting.

"You can't stand up and make a comment," he said.

The next Commission meeting is at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

The July and August meetings were livestreamed and are available on YouTube.com, and on the Commission's website at nj.gov/pinelands/home/meetings/live.shtml.
