2 Lost Hikers Found Via Drone In Berkeley: Police
The hikers had entered the wooded area of Dover Forge and couldn't find their way back to their car several hours later, police said.
BERKELEY, NJ — Police rescued two hikers who had been lost in the area of Dover Forge for several hours Saturday, according to a news release.
At about 2:20 p.m., a woman called Berkeley police to say that she and a man had entered the wooded area of Dover Forge at about 9 a.m. and couldn't find their way back to their car, police said.
Dover Forge is located at Double Trouble State Park. A trail there leads to Cedar Creek.

Police officers (Sgt. Houle, Ptl. Shan, and Ptl. Slocum), the Berkeley police drone unit (Ptl. DeDeyn, Ptl. Scaturro and Ptl. Bondulich) and ATV Unit (Sgt. Flanegan and Ptl. Bondulich) immediately launched a search, which lasted about 2.5 hours, police said.
A drone discovered the duo at about 5:15 p.m., police said. They were in the woods, about 150 yards from the creek.

Both were able to follow the drone to where the officers were located, police said.
Berkeley Township EMS were on scene, evaluated them and both were released without injuries.
