Ada Kindon, A Familiar Face In Ocean Gate For 70 Years, Dies At 95
Services for the longtime member of the Ocean Gate First Aid Squad and Historical Society will be held on Wednesday and Thursday

Ada Kindon of Ocean Gate died peacefully on July 15, 2017 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Philadelphia and lived in Ocean Gate for over seventy years. Ada was predeceased by her husband, Quinton, Sr., her son, Quinton, Jr. and her brother, William Riehl.

Together with her husband, Ada volunteered for many organizations in her community. She was particularly proud of being a founding member of the Ocean Gate First Aid Auxiliary and served as an officer and active member for over thirty-five years. In 2016, she was honored for her many contributions to her hometown by the Ocean Gate Historical Society, of which she was a charter member, and by the Borough of Ocean Gate, which designated her as Grand Marshal of the 4th of July Parade.
She worked for thirty-seven years in the cafeteria of Central Regional High School and was always happy to be recognized by many former students. Ada was a skilled seamstress, cook and baker who enjoyed sharing her talents by teaching sewing and by cooking for her extended family. She loved to dance, listen to music and could often be seen walking her dog, especially her final companion, Lady.

Ada loved life and she will be greatly missed by her son, Gary, his wife, Rose, her daughter, Pamela Herb and her husband Ricky. Ada was a beloved MomMom to her grandchildren Jennifer Bergstrom, Angela Henderson, Victoria Kindon, Quinton Kindon III, William Kindon, Rachel Kindon, Jedediah Herb, Justin Herb, Richard Herb III, Abigail Herb, and Aubrey Herb as well as to her ten great-grandchildren. She leaves behind the spouses of her grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the home on Thursday. Burial will be at 11 a.m. at the Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Ocean Gate First Aid Squad (oceangateems.org) would greatly honor her decades of work on its behalf.
