Bayville, Brick Tie For Highest Snowfall Totals In Ocean County

National Weather Service tallied the totals on Thursday evening.

BAYVILLE, NJ - Both Bayville and Brick have the dubious distinction of receiving the most snow in Ocean County during Thursday's blizzard.

The two towns tied at 18 inches of snow each, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS uses trained spotters to measure snowfall.

Tuckerton and Waretown weren't far behind, with 17.5 inches each. Manahawkin received 17 inches.

"The following are unofficial observations taken during the past 18 hours for the storm that has been affecting our region," the NWS said early Thursday evening. "Appreciation is extended to highway departments, cooperative observers, Skywarnspotters and media for these reports."

Point Pleasant Beach - 16.5 inches
Beachwood - 15.3 inches
Jackson - 15 inches
Toms River - 14.3 inches
Lacey Township - 14 inches
Barnegat Light - 12.9 inches
Forked River - 12 inches

But even though skies will be sunny today, the snow won't be going anywhere. The NWS is calling for very cold wind chills, from 0 to 15 below zero, which can cause frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Winds will also be a problem on Friday, with gusts as high as 45 miles per hour. That will cause blowing and drifting snow. Minor tree damage is also possible.
