BERKELEY, NJ — One of the most loved Italian restaurants in Bayville has permanently shut its doors as of April 1, its owners said.

"Please be assured that this is not an April Fools' joke, but a painful reality," Senza Cucina wrote in announcing the permanent closure on social media.

Senza Cucina, located at 333 Atlantic City Blvd., has been in operation since 2011. In that time, the eatery accumulated numerous accolades, including being named one of the best Italian restaurants in New Jersey.

A reason for the closure was not given.

"Over the past 15 years, Senza has been more than just a establishment - it has been our home," Senza Cucina wrote. "We will cherish the memories and miss our devoted customers and staff, who have become an extension of our family."

The comments on the post were flooded with customers sending their well-wishes and expressing their sadness over the restaurant's closure.

"Thank you for being part of the Senza family," the owners wrote.
