Berkeley Celebrates Winners Of Fire Prevention Poster Contest
Each child who placed got a certificate from Mayor Carmen Amato and a gift card. One winning poster is headed to the state level.

BERKELEY, NJ — Town Hall was packed with families on April 17 who were eager to celebrate Berkeley's contest winners.
Every year, New Jersey helps children learn about fire safety through its Fire Prevention Poster Contest, which begins at the local level.
This year's theme was "fire won't wait, plan your escape," highlighting the importance of having a safety plan and escape route.

Selecting the winners is the best part of fire official Fred Mitchell's job, he said, and there were almost a thousand different posters to choose from.

One winner also won at the county level. That poster will now be sent to compete at the state level.
