BERKELEY, NJ — Berkeley Recreation is seeking a beach supervisor to work at Amherst Beach and Dudley Park this summer.

Though Dudley Park has been staffed with a beach supervisor in previous years, Amherst Beach opened for swimming this summer which created the need for another supervisor, according to Berkeley Recreation's public relations director, Debbi Winogracki.

“We opened Amherst this year so we never had one there,” Winogracki said. “We added a new beach and would welcome the help if someone has the time this summer.”

The beach supervisor oversees activity on the beach to ensure that no one is smoking or consuming alcohol and that people using the pavilion have a permit from the recreation department.

“The lifeguards are focusing on the water. It’s not their job to say people can’t be smoking or drinking,” Winogracki said.
