Berkeley Mayor Announces "Sounds Of Summer" Lineup

A variety of shows are planned at Veterans Park.

Berkeley, NJ - The calendar may say winter, but Berkeley Township has already booked the lineup for the annual "Sounds of Summer Concert" series, Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. said.

This year, two weekend shows have been added, along with the regular Wednesday night shows. The series begins on Saturday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m

June 10 - 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Berkeley Township DARE Car Show and Rock N' Rhythm, which will perform Doo-Wop and contemporary styles.

June 28 - 6 p.m., Julian, Dominique, Michael DelGuidice and Big Shot, followed by a fireworks display.

July 12 - 6 p.m. - Gerard Esposito and The Duprees.

July 26 6:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. - Beatlemania, a Beatles Tribute Band.

Aug. 2 - 5 p.m., the Sixth Annual “Night out Against Crime.”

“The Berkeley Township Police Department will be on hand along with our Township First Aid Squads, Township Fire Departments and other public safety agencies to greet residents and show the different types of equipment that they utilize," the mayor said. "All of these public safety agencies will have their vehicles and equipment on display, as well. Our DARE Program will also be there with games and prizes for the children to enjoy.”

The group performing at 7:30 p.m.that night will be Radio Nashville.

Aug. 9 - Annual Beach Party at White Sands Beach in South Seaside Park at 23rd Avenue. From 5:30pm to 8:30pm Alotta Colada, a jamming island party band with great music, props and a lot of energy, will entertain crowds for the evening.

Aug. 23 - 6 p.m., Jukebox Legends, followed by New York Bee Gees.

Sept. 9 - Berkeley Township Community Pride Day. Community Pride Day begins at 10 a.m. It features rides, inflatables for kids, vendors, local nonprofits and community groups, along with Sounds of the Street, and the Infernos. The show will be followed by a fireworks display.

Sept. 17 - 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in conjunction with the Ocean County Car Show. Entertainment will be provided by Nostalgix - a doo-wop band specializing in 50's and 60's hit music.

The cost of the shows are paid for by community and business donations. The funds are also raised through the Mayor’s golf outing, our summer program book and outdoor stage advertising.

The first fundraiser, the annual Mayor’s Golf Outing, is scheduled for June 1. If you’re interested in being a sponsor or playing in the golf outing, contact Berkeley Recreation at: 732-269-4456.

“As you can see we have a great mix of talented groups in our summer line up," the mayor said. "There’s something for everyone!"

Refreshments are provided by local non-profit groups and organizations that use these concerts as their fundraisers, he said.

All of the shows, with the exception of the beach party, are held at Veterans Park.
