Berkeley Police Charge Exterminator With Theft By Deception
Keith Petersen, 55, charged with taking money, not doing the work, police chief says

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Berkeley police have charged a Clifton Avenue man with theft by deception after he took money for a pest extermination job and never did the work, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.
Keith Petersen, 55, was arrested by Detective Michael Riccardelli. Peterson posed as an exterminator while soliciting in the neighborhood off of Station Road. Peterson advised the victim that they had numerous pest problems which he could remedy, the chief said.
The victim paid Petersen, but he never came back to do the work. He was charged with one count of theft by deception and released in accordance with the state Bail Reform Act.

"Residents are reminded that soliciting is prohibited in Berkeley Township," DiMichele said. "Those wishing to solicit must receive a permit from the township. Residents should be wary of those who solicit work and do not have the proper documentation."
