Berkeley Police To Hold Free Child Car Seat Checks On Saturday
The event will be held at the Beachwood Plaza on Route 9 and will involve other police departments, police chief says

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Here's your chance to have your child's car safety seat inspected for free by certified police inspectors from a number of local police departments.
The multi-jurisdictional event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Beachwood Plaza on Route 9, Police Karin T. DiMichele said.
Certified car seat inspectors from Berkeley Township police, the Ocean County Sherif's Department and other neighboring police departments will be on hand to answer questions and assist anyone who stops by, the chief said.

"Our goal is to reduce the number of children with improper car seats or car seats installed incorrectly," DiMichele said. "Over 90 percent of children’s car seats are installed incorrectly in New Jersey. If you are not sure your child’s seat is installed correctly, or you haven’t had it inspected recently stop by. The entire process takes less than 30 minutes."
Berkeley police also hold car seat inspections on the second Wednesday of every month at the Bayville Fire Department on Route 9. If you have any questions, call Lt. Ryan Roth at (732) 341-1132 ext. 2125.
