Berkeley Police Looking For Man Who Broke Into Car, Then Fled

The owner saw a light on in his vehicle and found a man inside, police chief says

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Berkeley police are investigating a recent motor vehicle burglary at a home on Barbuda Street in the Holiday City section of the township, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Police responded to the home on Feb. 12 on a report of a motor vehicle burglary. The owner saw the interior light on in his unlocked vehicle in his driveway. When he went to check, he found an unknown man inside, the chief said.

The suspect fled before police arrived. He was described as a white male with glasses, with dark clothing and carrying a flashlight, DiMichele said.

Nothing had been taken from the vehicle, the owner told police.
