Berkeley Police Report Numerous Motor Vehicle Burglaries In Town
Burglaries reported on two separate nights, primarily in the Pinewald section of town.

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Berkeley police are warning residents to keep their vehicle doors locked after responding to multiple vehicle burglaries on two separate nights recently.
The first round occurred on Jan. 23, when police responded to many vehicle burglary reports in the Hickory Lane and Pinewald sections of the township, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.
"In these incidents, unlocked vehicles were entered and items such as money and other personal valuables were stolen," the chief said. "These incidents occurred during the overnight hours."

Berkeley detectives recovered some evidence in those incidents and are pursuing leads, she said.
Police again responded to several homes on reports of burglaries of unlocked motor vehicles on Feb. 2, also in the Pinewald section of the township, the chief said.

"We have reason to believe that these incidents occurred during the overnight hours and are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Berkeley Township Police at 732-341-1132 x611," DiMichele said.
"We also would like to advise all residents to double check their vehicles to make sure they are locked prior to going to bed at night," the chief said. "This simple action would help prevent you from being a victim!"
