Injured Teen Dirt Biker Driver Ticketed After Johnson's Pit Accident

14-year-old was badly injured in Sept. 17 accident at Johnson's Pit, which is privately owned.

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Two teenagers involved a dirt bike accident at Johnson's Pit on Sept. 17 have been charged with trespassing by Berkeley police, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says.

The 14-year-old dirt biker rider and the 17-year-old driver of the Chevy Blazer in the accident both received trespassing summonses from Berkeley police, said Al Della Fave.

Johnson's Pit is privately owned. The dirt bike driver miscalculated his "jump" and collided with the Blazer, he said.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for Ethan Knapp, the dirt bike rider. He suffered two broken legs, a broken hip and a severe concussion and has already had several surgeries. He was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after the accident.

"He has a few more surgeries to go but is making progress," the GoFundMe page states. "He will have a long road of recovery ahead and a lot of doctor bills. Please help him and his family out in this tough time. Every dollar helps."
