Berkeley's 9/11 Memorial Service Will Be Held In Bayville Tuesday

A Berkeley couple who lost their daughter that day plan a quiet observance of the anniversary

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – Unlike the chaotic, nightmarish day of 17 years ago, Tom and Joann Meehan plan to spend the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks quietly, with their remaining son and his family.

The day to mark the death of their only daughter, Colleen Anne Barkow, will be a "personal remembrance" day, Tom Meehan said.

Colleen worked as a facilities director for Cantor Fitzgerald, on the 103rd floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center. She died at 26.

The Meehans plan to attend a church service at Christ Church in Toms River, watch the reading of the victims' names on television, have dinner with their son Daryl and their granddaughters and visit the cemetery where Colleen is buried.

They've already attended one Berkeley 9/11 memorial service, so they won't be at the service local Boy Scout troops plan to hold at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the township's 9/11 memorial at Veterans Park in Bayville .
