Boil Water Advisory Lifted For Berkeley Township MUA Customers
The boil water advisory issued for residents serviced by the Berkeley Township Municipal Utilities Authority has been lifted.
BERKELEY, NJ — The boil water advisory issued for residents serviced by the Berkeley Township Municipal Utilities Authority has been lifted.
The advisory went into effect Monday after E. coli was detected in tests of its water supply. The BTMUA announced Saturday that its water quality was deemed safe after follow-up tests.
The advisory did not apply to residents who are serviced by Suez, Aqua, Shore Water or New Jersey American Water.

Though boiling water is no longer necessary before use, the BTMUA encourages the following measures at this time:
- Run water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush the service connection and interior plumbing with water from the service main.
- Empty and clean automatic ice makers and water chillers.
- Drain and refill hot water heater if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Service connections with a water softener/cartridge filters should be run through a regeneration cycle or other procedures recommended by the manufacturer.
- Water reservoirs in tall buildings should be drained and refilled (as applicable).
“We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience,” BTMUA officials said in a news release.
