Central Regional Student Wins NJ Special Olympics Bowling Title

BERKELEY, N.J. — Two Central Regional athletes dominated the bowling lanes last weekend, including one new state champion. Jada Lewis won the gold medal in the New Jersey Special Olympics State Finals Bowling Competition, while John Meola earned sixth place.

"We are SO incredibly proud of both of our amazing athletes! Also, hats off to their Coach Ms. Fortus who does a spectacular job with all of our Special Olympians," Central Regional Family wrote on Facebook.

The two-day bowling tournament took place at Bowlero North Brunswick. To qualify for advancement, athletes needed to place first or second in both area and sectional competition, according to Special Olympics New Jersey.

Lewis and Meola helped continue the success of Central Regional Special Olympians, who earned nine gold and five silver medals at the NJ Winter Games.
