Coastal Ocean County Beach Report For July 10, 2017

Sunny skies, cool temperatures, but increasing rip current risk on tap for today.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies today with highs only in the upper 70s.

There's a moderate risk of rip currents, so be sure to check with your local beach patrol before going into the water. Always swim within sight of lifeguards and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you always bring a flotation device with you when heading the surf.

Wave heights have increased since yesterday to around 3 feet, with southerly swells of around two feet. The surf temperature has warmed up to 70 degrees. Winds will be from the southwest at 5 miles an hour, increasing to 15 miles an hour in the afternoon.

The ultraviolet index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. There is no lightning threat.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet rolled in 9:18 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 3:23 p.m, followed by another high tide at 9:27 p.m.
