Coastal Ocean County Beach Report For July 18, 2017

The National Weather Service is calling for a nice beach day in Ocean County, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 80s.

The risk of rip currents has ramped up today, with a moderate risk of rip currents. You should always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water.

Waves will be around two feet, with southeasterly swells of around two feet. The ocean water temperature has warmed up to 77 degrees, the warmest so far this summer.

The ultraviolet index is an 8, which the NWS considers very high. There is no lightning threat.

Winds will be from the south at 5 to 10 miles per hour.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet rolled in at 9:35 a.m. High tide will arrive at 3:50 p.m., followed by another low tide at 10:37 p.m.
