Coastal Storm Could Impact Berkeley Thursday: Mayor
Berkeley residents should expect to see up to two inches of rain, minor coastal flooding, wind and slippery road conditions, officials said.
BERKELEY, NJ — A coastal storm starting on Thursday and lasting through Friday is likely to impact Berkeley residents, Mayor Carmen Amato and the Berkeley Office of Emergency Management said.
Amato told residents to expect the following:
- Between 1.5 to 2 inches of rain
- A gale force wind watch with gusts up to 45 mph along the coast
- Possible minor flooding along the bay front and back estuaries
- Colder temperatures over night may create slippery road conditions during the morning commute
- If you have a commute to work in the NW NJ/Eastern PA regions, they will experience a winter mix of snow and rain during this period as well
These conditions can cause power outages, so Amato asks that residents take time to prepare themselves and check on neighbors if needed.
