A Cool, Cloudy Start Today At Ocean County Beaches

The National Weather service is calling for cloudy skies and cool temperatures at Ocean County beaches this morning, turning sunny by afternoon.

Highs will be in the lower 70s, a 20-degree drop from the torrid temperatures of last week. Winds will be from the northeast at 10 miles per hour.

The rip current risk today is low. But rips can still occur at jetties and other structures. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim along or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device in the water with you.

The ocean water temperature is 72 degrees. Waves will be around three feet, with easterly swells of two feet. The ultraviolet index is an 8, which the NWS considers high, so bring the sunscreen.

There is no lightning threat today.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet will roll in at 10:49 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 5:01 p.m., followed by another high tide at 11:04 p.m.
