First Night Seaside Heights Fireworks Canceled Due To Cold

National Weather Services says frostbite can occur in half an hour.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ - The organizers of Seaside Heights First Night Event have canceled the New Year's Eve fireworks display slated for early this evening due to the extreme cold, Borough Administrator Christopher J. Vaz said.

All other First Night activities will continue. The event is scheduled to run until 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory from 9 p.m. tonight until 10 a.m. on Monday. Wind chills ranging from 5 degrees above zero to 10 below zero are possible.

"The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin," the NWS said.
