Flags Planted In Berkeley's New Garden Ahead Of Memorial Day
American flags were planted around Berkeley's new memorial garden for people to dedicate them to a veteran in their life.

BERKELEY, NJ — The founders of Berkeley’s new memorial garden in Veterans Park held a celebration to honor veterans on Tuesday.
American flags were planted in the garden and attendees attached name tags to them in honor of a veteran in their life.
One of the garden’s founders, Anita Morris, of Berkeley, said a few flags in the garden were not claimed.

A box of pens have been left in the garden for people to add names to the tags on flags that have not been dedicated to someone.
Morris said the event served as a way to honor veterans who have died and those who are in service, and to pray for anyone who will be enlisting in the armed forces.

The memorial garden will continue to host events and plantings throughout the year. Flowers were planted in the garden on May 13 in memory of people who have died over the past year.
Morris and Michele Nesbihal founded the garden earlier this month with help from local businesses and Berkeley’s Parks and Recreation Department. Read more: Berkeley Community Teams Up To Plant Memorial Garden
