GoFundMe Account Set Up For Corrections Officer Diagnosed With Brain Tumor

Officer Joseph Graf is in Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Joseph Graf, a state Department of Corrections officer based in Bordentown, had just arrived at his job when he passed out as he got out of his car.

Graf, Toms River, walked into the correctional facility after he regained consciousness with head and facial injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Shortly after, he began vomiting and having severe cardiac problems. He was stabilized in the hospital's intensive care unit, where a number of tests - including a cat scan - were run. The news was not good.

"Unfortunately they concluded that Joe has a fairly large brain tumor that is of a suspicious nature," according to the GoFundMe page set up to help his family. "This tumor is causing his cardiac issues as swell as seizures."

Graf is now at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center and is evaluated by a neurological medical team, family friend Elaine McAleavey wrote.

"I am starting this fundraiser because Joe and Kelly will be facing some incredible medical expenses and their home expenses will become difficult as well, as Kelly is not able to work while she stays by Joe's side," the post states.

As of Thursday morning $12,215 of the $50,000 goal had been raised. To donate, click here.

McAleavey said she will be updating the GoFundMe site with any developments.
