High Lightning Threat, Moderate Risk Of Rip Currents Today At Ocean County Beaches

The National Weather service has issued a flash flood watch for today.

There's not much chance of working on your tan today at Ocean County beaches.

The National Weather Service is calling for cloudy skies with showers and a chance of thunderstorms. Highs will only be in the mid-70s. Expect south winds from 10 to 15 miles per hour.

There's a moderate risk of rip currents, which means you should always check with your local beach patrol before going in the water. Never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you have a bring a flotation device with you when you go in the water.

Waves will be from three to four feet high, with southerly swells of two to three feet. The ocean water temperature is 74 degrees.

The ultraviolet index is a 3, which the NWS considers moderate. The lightning threat is high.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet rolled in at 8:12 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 2:21 p.m., followed by another high tide at 8:24 p.m.
