How Many Inches Of Snow Is Berkeley Getting, And When?

Forecasters updated snow predictions for the Berkeley area. Here's what they expect for the upcoming storm.

BERKELEY, NJ — The National Weather Service says that the storm predicted to hit the northeast overnight is likely to drop 3-5 inches Thursday night and potentially a little more Friday morning in Berkeley.

Here's the National Weather Service's forecast for the Berkeley area as of 5 p.m. Thursday:

Thursday Night: Snow, mainly after 1am. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 27. Light and variable wind becoming north 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Friday: Snow likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 35. Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 16. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 33. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

The National Weather Service placed Berkeley and much parts of northeast New Jersey under a winter-weather advisory from midnight to noon Friday. Plan on slippery road conditions, which will impact morning commutes, the agency said.

Snowfall rates could range between 0.5-1 inches per hour in any heavy snowbands, the National Weather Service said.
