Island Beach State Park Lifeguards Rescue Man From Surf

Lifeguards at Island Beach State Park pulled a middle-aged man from the ocean shortly before 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, according to a report on nj.com.

The swimmer - believed to be in his late 40s, was semi-conscious and responsive when he was rescued, a spokesman for the state Department of Environmental Protection said.

The man was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, the spokesman said.
