It's Unlikely Criminal Charges Will Be Filed In Bicyclist's Death

The investigation into the accident continues, but nothing criminal has been found, Prosecutor's Office spokesman says

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - The death of a 76-year-old Bayville bicyclist on Saturday afternoon appears to have been a "tragic accident" instead of anything criminal, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

Gilbert Truedsson, 76, Bay Boulevard, died from his injuries at Community Medical Center in Toms River at 3:17 p.m., said Al Della Fave, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

The accident happened at 2:32 p.m., just east of the Veterans Park entrance. The bicyclist apparently turned from the shoulder of the roadway into the passenger side of a 2015 Chrysler Town and County van driven by Harold Bennett, 85, Lanoka Harbor, Della Fave has said.
